Day 2: Disneyland

Despite being tired, the kids were up early and ready to go. We had a quick breakfast of Costco muffins and fruit and got back into the car. Yuck.
We drove until we reached Anaheim. We checked into the hotel about 1 pm and headed straight to Disneyland. We picked up our park hopper tickets at the front desk of our hotel. We split them with another family from Utah who were there the day before us. With our tickets they left us some Fast Passes to Space Mountain that they were unable to use the night before because of a ride closure. They were told the tickets would be valid the next day, lucky for us. That was the first ride we went on.
I think we might have scarred Enoch for the rest of Disneyland. He did not like Space Mountain - too jerky he said. We learned quickly that Enoch does not like to be jerked around. He is also scared of heights. I knew that Enoch didn't like heights since we visited the Grand Canyon when he was two. Apparently he hasn't grown out of it yet (neither have I). He doesn't mind the drops in roller coasters, but he was beyond terrified to go up the hills to get to the drops.
As funny as it sounds, Enoch really enjoyed any ride with a boat - Pirates of the Caribbean, It's a Small World, and especially, the Jungle Cruise (we went three times). I'm not so sure it was the actual rides but the challenge to figure them out. You know when you are on a ride and the operator says, "Please keep you hands and head in the ride at all times." Yeah, that was Enoch - constantly sticking his head out and looking down trying to figure out how everything worked.

And while the rest of us enjoyed all the rides, Enoch did not even like Dumbo or the rockets. We rode the entire ride down low, he would grab my arm and flip out if I tried to raise our rocket up high.

Gavin enjoyed all the roller coasters. The bigger, the better. He was also a great sport and went on a bunch of kiddie rides with the family. I think it was extra fun for Gavin to have Uncle Jarom there. Gavin is at a right-in-the-middle age where is isn't a fuddy duddy adult nor a child. Uncle Jarom (and Greg) was great to go on all the big rides with Gavin.
Gavin and I did spent some time on Autopia, with Gavin driving. Umm - I'm not quite ready for Gavin to get his driver's license yet. I'm sure Uncle Jarom is less ready to be driving again anytime soon with Enoch at the wheel.

Guess what rides Kate liked? Any she was tall enough to go on. Poor thing - she was so disappointed every time we told her she was too short, which was often. She's my little daredevil. That might be hard for some to imagine because she is so quiet, but she isn't timid. He favorite ride was Matterhorn. Yep, the "monster" ride. She loved it. But, she also really loved the carousel, tea cups and Jungle Cruise.

We left Disneyland that night quite exhausted. We walked back to the hotel (not too far, but after a day of walking, it seemed like forever). The most exciting part of the day was when Kate locked herself in the bathroom while getting ready for bed. Kate was screaming, Enoch was close to tears and Gavin and Greg were trying to get the lock undone with a bobby pin. Fun stuff.
We had a great day and were ready to do it again in the morning.

I love Kate's face on the teacups, and that she locked herself in the bathroom. Poor girl. Looks like a lot of fun!

looks like a fun trip! I can't wait to take my kids again (the first time for J & A). Unfortunately it won't be for quite a while.

The memories are as much fun as the trip was (maybe more--because my feet don't hurt!) Thanks for the post! I love to remember our time at Disneyland
