Enoch's Skinny Jeans

Ever since Enoch hit about two years old, I've had a hard time finding pants that fit him. He is just so dang skinny. Really, there is nothing to this kid. He obviously inherited his Dad's metabolism. The length isn't a problem since Enoch is right smack in the middle of average height. However, I've yet to find a pair of pants that Enoch can hold up on his own without the use of a belt. And, to complicate matters, Enoch doesn't like wearing belts. They dig into his bony hips, are a pain to put on and even a bigger pain to take off while running to the bathroom after doing the potty dance for two hours. He is just in the habit of pulling up his pants every few minutes. Poor kid.
I hope I have finally found a solution. Let me start by saying, I never thought I'd buy a pair of skinny jeans for my boys. I just really don't think they are that attractive, especially on boys. But - when the skinny jeans fit my kid like normal jeans fits most kids, that's what I have to do. I mean, look at the picture, they really are not tight on him.

These are skinny jeans from Gymboree---in the slim size! Yes, skinny jeans in slim! Geesh! Well, here's to Enoch and his skinny jeans 0r genes, whichever!

Train Show

The boys attended the Train Show at Thanksgiving Point tonight. Enoch really needed to get out and since he loves trains, it seemed like a good idea. I told him to take a lot of pictures of his favorite trains.
(Enoch speaking.)
I didn't get a picture of the steam train. One of the steam trains was chugging and steam was coming out and it was black. I loved it! My favoritest was the fastest moving train. I had to take a picture so quickly so I wouldn't miss it.

I got to control a train. I could do it fast or slow. The remote was black and red. It was totally fun. One more thing - it was so fun. And, that's the end.

Scattered Thoughts

1. I'm so sick and tired of cleaning this house! I'm not sure what's going on with the kids, but they are being extremely messy. I finally broke down and turned to bribery. I bought a Costco bag of mini candy bars for clean-up treats. If Mom catches you putting something away without being asked, you get a treat. It's pathetic what works!

2. We are suffering from Jimmermania! Geesh - he is an incredible player! I'm talking about Jimmer Fredette, if you don't know. The SDSU game a few days ago was awesome. We are loving watching him play. We did get to see him play in person right before Christmas. We can say we saw him in person once. We are enjoying it while it lasts!

3. Kate is my little night owl. She is in bed by 8:30, but is usually not asleep until 10-10:30. She reads books, plays with toys, tells herself stories and bugs Dad to stay in the hall outside her room. She just isn't tired. However, Enoch goes right to bed at 8:30 and is up at 6-6:30am. When he wakes up, he doesn't come and get Mom and Dad, he goes and gets Kate. Yeah - Kate isn't getting enough sleep. Every time we are in the car, she falls asleep. She is usually not too grumpy, but every now and then we will hit a bad day.

Arrrrgh Matey!

I think I'm now required to participate in Talk like a Pirate day. Why? Because I'm sporting a gold tooth! Yep - a real gold tooth.
After breaking the same crown three times in two years, my dentist, Dr. Lambert, suggested I get a gold crown. He told me, "It won't break, it will fit great and it will look fantastic!" Okay, you convinced me (but only because it won't break). It is the farthest tooth back on the bottom left, so I wasn't worried about people seeing it. Good thing - Dr. Lambert might like gold teeth, but me - not so much.
The boys thought it was awesome. Enoch said, "Your tooth is so shiny!" Greg said, "When we are really poor, we can send your tooth in to Cash 4 Gold." Umm, NOOOO! Kate was very disappointed that I didn't come home with a princess crown.
As much as I hate going to the dentist, Dr. Lambert was really wonderful about the whole process. The tooth feels great and I'm really hoping this one is a keeper for a while!

Scattered Thoughts

1. Greg and I have new church callings. We were released from Nursery at the end of December. Greg is now working with the Webelos Scouts and I am the Cub Committee Chair. I'm stressed - Pinewood Derby is tomorrow and Blue and Gold Banquet is in February.

2. Enoch is driving me nuts. He is dealing with cabin fever, winter blues and Gavin. Never a good combination. I'm sending him outside whenever the air quality is green. He really hates being inside.

3. We are trying to eat healthy. It's very busy for Mom - preparing food, listening to whining, doing more dishes. However, no one has been sick in January (knock, knock, knock on wood).

4. Gavin earned 9 merit badges at the Court of Honor on Sunday. His favorites were cycling and pulp and paper. He is also a patrol leader. He is doing great in Scouts.

5. Kate is the sweetest girl. She tells me ten times a day, "Mommy, I love you so much." She is not much of a snuggler, but she gives me hugs all day long. I love it!

Weekly Schedule

I haven't posted in a bit. Nothing newsworthy is going on. It's cold - really cold. I'm trying to stay home, but life isn't cooperating with that. I spend more time in my car than at home. I thought I'd record our family schedule for me to look back upon and wish for the good old days.

Monday - Early out day. I swear I just send those kids out the door when they are back home again! I drive Kindergarten pick-up carpool everyday and Carrie brings the kids home.

Tuesday - Enoch has gym class at 3:45. I pick him up from school, he snacks in the car, changes in the backseat when we get to the gym and he is off for an hour. I run errands ALONE! How heavenly. Gavin babysits Kate and they have a great time together. Gavin and Greg have Scouts at 6:30pm.

Wednesday - Gavin has saxophone lessons at 5:30. Luckily, since I'm in the middle of cooking dinner, Greg picks him up at 6, on his way home from work.

Thursday - Kate has gym class at 11 am. She is really loving it. I think we might be changing her day because the class she is in isn't working for her. She is in a 3-6 year old class. The teachers have divided the class into 3-4 year olds and 5-6 year olds. Kate participates with the 5-6 year olds but she is just too short to do all they do. She is way too bored in the 3-4 year old class. We'll see what her teachers want to do.

Friday - This is my day off from running. I try to stay home, but that never works.

I try to run my errands all in one day, but that never happens. I'm usually running errands 2-3 time a week. How pathetic! Add in there homework, cleaning, cooking. laundry, church callings, birthday planning, life and I'm feeling a bit stressed right now!

Family Pictures

I have a big roll of Ikea paper in my sewing room that I use for tracing patterns, doodling pattern ideas and doing sewing math (since I can't do it in my head!). Often times, Enoch and Kate will ask for paper and pens to entertain themselves while I'm sewing. It's so cute to see Kate draw a dress pattern and then not so cute when she demands I make it. Okay, it's still a little cute, but we need to work on 'please'.
One day, Enoch and Kate drew these pictures. How adorable!
I think 'Mom' and 'Dad' are really Grandma and Grandpa. Enoch is finally figuring out his grandparents are his parent's parents. I love how the whole family is wearing hats - because we wear so many hats?!

I think Gavin might be missing in Kate's picture. Either that or she is tiny little figure on the bottom. Or that is a kitty or a flower or a I don't know. But, I think for a two-year-old, it's pretty good. I wish I really did have legs that long!

Sorry the pictures aren't scanned. We just got a new printer, copier, scanner, faxer and I don't know how to work it yet and Greg or Gavin isn't here to hold my hand through the process.

Fluffy, White Snow

Today when Enoch came home from school, he announced he was going to build a snowman. Our snow is frozen to the ground. It is solid. Enoch can walk across our snow-covered yard and not even leave boot tracks. There was no way it was going to roll into snowman balls.
After much thought, Enoch decided the best solution to his snowman problem was to ask Heavenly Father to sent fluffy, white snow. I told him that was a good idea. He immediately started his prayer.
"Heavenly Father, please send us fluffy, white snow. I want to build a snowman and our snow is crunchy. Not too much snow, because I don't want to lose my Kate. Just enough that is will come up to her waist. Thank you. Love Enoch. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."
I hope it snows soon!

New Year's Eve Sledding

For New Year's weekend, we drove down to my parent's house to spend some time with family and play in the 2 feet of snow. The drive down wasn't too bad - no snow, just snow covered roads. We arrived on Thursday evening to a yummy dinner of ham, cheesy potatoes and rolls. We visited for a bit and then headed to bed. Enoch and Kate slept on the air mattress in the downstairs family room. They were so excited to sleep next to each other so they could talk before bed.
The next morning was very lazy. We all (except Greg) stayed in our jammies until lunch. Greg fixed a great breakfast of oatmeal, eggs and ham. We visited, watched football and played games. After lunch, we bundled up and headed out in the snow.

I really don't like being cold and I really don't like getting everyone bundled up in the snow gear, but once we got out there, we had so much fun. We were so excited there was so much fresh snow, but it actually wasn't that great for sledding - too much powder. We couldn't get down the hill without getting stuck. Enoch and Kate found a little hill in Grandma and Grandpa's front yard that was just perfect for them.

Finally we hooked up the sleds to the back of the snowmobiles. That was fun! Everyone had so much fun. Kate especially liked riding on the snowmobiles.

She wouldn't wear her heavy snow gloves, only her knit mittens. Her hands got very cold in the snow. When she discovered that the handles on the snowmobiles were heated, she wouldn't leave the front of the machine. She loved it! Her mittens would steam when she had them on the handles.

Enoch loved being pulled being the snowmobile. He is a crazy boy - always yelling at Dad to go faster. On one ride, he got a face full of snow. When the sled pulled into Grandpa's, he jumped off the sled, walked over to Aunt Michelle, stuck his face out and yelled, "Wipe me off! Let's go again!"

It was cold, but we had so much fun!
That night we celebrated New Year's Eve by watching more football,

eating lots of junk, playing games, doing fondue and

blowing our noise makers.

We (Greg, Tresa, Enoch and Kate) didn't stay up until midnight, but everyone else did.
Happy 2011!
