Kate's Ballet Class

Kate has always loved gymnastics.  She has been in class since she was 18 months old.  I'm going to be honest when I say she is not the best in her class, but she is right up toward the top.  She has that Fowler freaky strength and is actually quite graceful (which she most definitely did not get from me!).  Most importantly, she has so much fun with it and it is giving her something to feel good about.
I've always thought I should sign her up for ballet to give her exposure to dance that might help her gymnastics, but she is already in gym twice a week and I felt like that was enough for a five-year-old. A wonderful opportunity came up when a mom in our neighborhood started beginning ballet classes in her home.  She was very specific when she said it would be low-key and fun.  Perfect!  Just what Kate needed.
Kate has had such a great time at ballet on Mondays after lunch.  Most of her neighborhood friends were in her class.  They learned the basics - how to stretch properly, how their bodies move to music, etc.
At the end of spring, her class did a performance for parents.  It was so terrific to see her having fun with dance and ballet and it not being so structured like most ballet classes.  Maybe she didn't learn as much, but she learned what she needed to - that ballet is fun, that being active is fun, being with her friends is fun, etc.
A big thanks to her teacher, Sister Morrison.  Heather did a fantastic job with all these little girls!  They all had fun, learned new skills and worked together.
Great job, Kate!
