Delicate Arch
This was our first hike. We knew the park would be crowded since it was a holiday weekend, so we woke up early and left the KOA in Moab to arrive at the park early. We were one of the first ones at the Wolf Canyon campground, which was great because it's hard to find parking for a 31 ft motor home! We ate breakfast in the parking lot, applied our sunscreen, filled out hydration packs and we were off.
The hike up was beautiful. The weather was still coolish and the trail wasn't too crowded. We drank a lot of water, ate snacks, wiped Guard's nose (he had a nasty sinus infection) and put one foot in front of the other. We all made it to the top, but I forget how tough it gets at the end.
It was so worth it! Delicate Arch is stunning and truly a wonder of nature. The kids were is awe - most of them at least. We purposely didn't tell Enoch about the drop-offs on either side of the path because we knew he wouldn't make it (he is terrified of heights). Once we got to that part of the path, he started screaming and pulling away. Greg had to carry him the rest of the way up while Enoch had his eyes closed and his face buried in Greg's neck while he screamed loud enough for the entire trail to hear him.
Kate and Gavin loved the arch. They walked out underneath with Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Jarom. That was scary for me, but I'm not so fond of heights myself.
Double O Arch
This was Enoch's and Kate's favorite hike. It was very short, flat and had a bunch of rocks at the end to scramble all over. They had so much fun playing on the rocks in the shade. It was a nice hike to end our day. After Double O Arch we drove back to the KOA to relax.
