Scattered Thoughts

Kate
1. She said her first prayer on her birthday over her pizza. She did such a great job and was so proud of herself.
2. At her 2-year-old check she weighed 24.6 lbs (10th percentile) and is 33.4 inches tall (25th percentile). Kate is our shrimpy girl. She didn't cry at all during her shots (although she had such a sad face the nurse gave her an extra sucker). She was very proud of her pink pony band-aid and couldn't wait to show Dad.

Enoch
1. I've been able to tuck Enoch into bed every night this week. What an accomplishment! That means I've found him every time he has wandered off and he has not injured himself enough to land in the hospital.
2. I registered Enoch for kindergarten this week. Oh! My baby! I can't believe it. Although, Enoch keeps asking when we can go back to the kindergarten school. He is so excited.

Gavin
1. Gavin has inflamed growth plates in his heels. Lucky for Gavin. The podiatrist told him to take some Ibuprofen and it will clear up in a few years. Does this mean his feet are still growing? I don't know. He already wears a size 9. Mom was glad he was at the podiatrist will her though (see story below).
2. Really great news! Gavin has advanced on to Regional Science Fair. It is at BYU in March and he is debating whether he is happy about this (more judges interviews). We are so proud of him.

Tresa
1. I'm so glad Gavin went with me to see the foot doctor. After being diagnosed with severe Plantar Fascitis (sp?), the doctor recommended cortisone shots in each heel. I was not happy about this, but Gavin said he would hold my hand. He did and what a trooper. It hurt and I know I was squeezing hard. But, what a personal miracle - my feel don't hurt, even when I walk. It has been about six years since my feet were pain free. Hopefully the shots will last a good, long while.
2. I can't believe I'm doing this! I've started a crafty blog, DONE. It is more just to keep track of what I've done and keep track of all the projects I want to do. Feel free to visit. Since it is public, I'm trying to be careful about using names, so please don't leave any names in the comments.

Greg
1. Greg works - at work, at home, at church. What a guy!
2. Greg has loved watching the Olympics. Short track is his favorite event, but he has also enjoyed the luge.

Kate Patrice is Two!

My Kate is two. I just want her to stay little and cute and fun. She is growing up too fast!
This morning we measured her (sort of, she wouldn't hold still).
We then went into the family room to open presents. She was a bit confused about wearing the birthday crown; she thought it was Enoch's because he was the first to wear it. After we got past that, she was excited to open her big present. She had a hard time unwrapping her bag, but with her brothers help she did it.
She was thrilled with her new bike. Isn't is the cutest bike ever? It is so sturdy and she loves it, especially the bell. Her brothers have to push her around because she isn't quite tall enough to reach the pedals yet. She has had fun with it all day long.
For dinner that night, Kate chose pizza, root beer and chocolate chip cookies. After dinner, we watched the Olympics. We love you, Kate!

A funny little story: Kate has been sick the last few days with a very runny nose and a croupy cough. About 2:30 am on her birthday she woke up coughing and couldn't go back to sleep. As Greg and I were holding her and talking, I realized that 2:30 am was the time my water broke and we rushed to the hospital to have Kate. I guess she just likes waking up Mom and Dad at the same time on her birthday.

Funny Enoch

A few funny things Enoch said today:

1. "I have really good eyesight. I can see really far. If I climbed all the way up a castle, I could see way far - half way across the world. No, I could see all the way around the world and see my own back!"

2. "My lucky word is poop!"

3. While watching Shaun White do the half pipe snowboard at the Olympics, "Mom, that guy flew into space and then came back down to earth! I can't believe it! Can you believe it?"

Kate's Haircut

I've given Kate a few haircuts and Enoch has given her one (he told Rita he forgot who cuts hair at our house, hmmmm). The boys desperately needed their hair cut and I decided to take them to Rita rather than doing it myself (we are getting pictures soon). While we were there I asked Rita to shape up Kate's hair a bit. She barely cut any off, but I think it looks so much better. What a cutie!

Valentine's Day 2010

I'll admit, Valentine's get a bit lost in the craziness of birthdays at our house. Add on to that, the boys both think Valentine's is a girl's holiday; they enjoy the candy, but not so much the hearts and love. Greg kept bugging me about what I wanted. I told him to wait and give me a flower bush when we redo our yard this summer rather than a vase of flowers now (which would only make me sneeze).
We decorated sugar cookies. We bundled up and went for a walk. It was a good day.

Olympic Birthday Party

What a blast! We celebrated Enoch's and Kate's birthdays with the Randall family and participated in our own Olympics (created by Greg).

We started out the competition with the SLALOM:
Everyone chose a skier (plastic army men frozen in ice cubes) and carefully guided them down the slope. Uncle Jarom won the competition and actually put his guy through all the gates. Enoch careened his guy off the slope and out of the box, but the skier was fine and tried again.
Next up, CURLING:
This was stiff competition. I think Enoch and Carson beat us all. The curling venue was located in the upstairs hall. We took turns sliding our weighted carpet skates on the carpet to the marked off point area. Everyone enjoyed this event.
And then, SHORT TRACK:
Short track was hilarious! Oh my goodness! This event was only for men. The track was five times around the kitchen table in stocking feet. Uncle Kyle started on the inside and kept the inside until Uncle Jarom cut across the track. This was great fun. (See video below)
And finally, PAIRS FIGURE SKATING:
Greg and Kate won this event. They did a beautiful program full of turns, lifts and throws. They had great technique and artistic merit.
All the kids were awarded gold medals at the end of the competition.
After the games, we opened presents. Enoch received a zhu zhu pet from Aunt Michelle and Uncle Dave, a bubble airplane from Fords and a way cool battleship from Grandma and Grandpa Randall. He loved all his toys. Notice that his zhu zhu hamster, Jon, is driving the ship.

Kate still isn't sure about this opening present thing, but she loved her gifts as well. She also got a zhu zhu pet, a stuffed lion puppet from the Youngs, some princesses from the Ford's, and a dress up box filled with fun things from Grandma and Grandpa Randall and Great grandma and grandpa Jordan. What fun.
We then sang Happy Birthday and ate our cupcakes.
