New Year's Eve Sledding

For New Year's weekend, we drove down to my parent's house to spend some time with family and play in the 2 feet of snow. The drive down wasn't too bad - no snow, just snow covered roads. We arrived on Thursday evening to a yummy dinner of ham, cheesy potatoes and rolls. We visited for a bit and then headed to bed. Enoch and Kate slept on the air mattress in the downstairs family room. They were so excited to sleep next to each other so they could talk before bed.
The next morning was very lazy. We all (except Greg) stayed in our jammies until lunch. Greg fixed a great breakfast of oatmeal, eggs and ham. We visited, watched football and played games. After lunch, we bundled up and headed out in the snow.

I really don't like being cold and I really don't like getting everyone bundled up in the snow gear, but once we got out there, we had so much fun. We were so excited there was so much fresh snow, but it actually wasn't that great for sledding - too much powder. We couldn't get down the hill without getting stuck. Enoch and Kate found a little hill in Grandma and Grandpa's front yard that was just perfect for them.

Finally we hooked up the sleds to the back of the snowmobiles. That was fun! Everyone had so much fun. Kate especially liked riding on the snowmobiles.

She wouldn't wear her heavy snow gloves, only her knit mittens. Her hands got very cold in the snow. When she discovered that the handles on the snowmobiles were heated, she wouldn't leave the front of the machine. She loved it! Her mittens would steam when she had them on the handles.

Enoch loved being pulled being the snowmobile. He is a crazy boy - always yelling at Dad to go faster. On one ride, he got a face full of snow. When the sled pulled into Grandpa's, he jumped off the sled, walked over to Aunt Michelle, stuck his face out and yelled, "Wipe me off! Let's go again!"

It was cold, but we had so much fun!
That night we celebrated New Year's Eve by watching more football,

eating lots of junk, playing games, doing fondue and

blowing our noise makers.

We (Greg, Tresa, Enoch and Kate) didn't stay up until midnight, but everyone else did.
Happy 2011!

It was such a fun weekend, but now I'm exhausted. But very relaxing and it was so fun to be with your cute kids.

It looks like fun! I think Carson and Enoch could be sledding buddies! Let's pick a date for sledding in the cabin before the winter gets away. That is amongst the millions of birthday parties!!!

It was such a fun, relaxing time. I really enjoyed it and felt a little lonely when everyone went home. But that "loneliness" makes it even more fun when we're together again! So glad you could come and stay a few days.
