I dare say, Guard has been my easiest child to potty-train. It's been awesome!
About mid-October I finally decided to take this one on. He had been interested in the potty for a few weeks and I felt that he was ready.
He did so great! The first day he sat on the potty every 30 minutes. We did that for two days before he was sick of it. I discovered that he can go about 3-4 hours between trips to the bathroom. That worked out better for him. We bribed him for a few days with Frooties, but he was done with that in a matter of days as well.
He has had very few accidents (really, maybe 6-7) and he has been so considerate not to pee on the carpet. Isn't that nice of him?
He loves his car and dinosaur underwears the best. He was at first very hesitant to wear underwear. He would go on the potty, but would want his diaper back on. It took a lot of convincing to get him into underwear full-time. That has been the hardest part. We finally struck a bargain. If he would wear underwear, he could flush the toilet. I know, so simple, but it worked. It cracked me up that he would always tear off some toilet paper and put in the toilet before he flushed, even if he didn't use any.
I wouldn't say that he is fully, completely trained, but between the two of us, we do great. He wears his underwears (what he calls them) to bed at night and is dry in the morning. He really is doing so well. I am so proud of him!
Wow! My last time potty-training. That feels good!
