1. Guard and I went to the Christmas Sing at the school yesterday. It's a fun tradition that we have done every year for 11 years (since Gavin was in Kindergarten). Each grade sings two Christmas songs. It can be a bit long some years, but overall it is very fun for the kids! At least for Kate, she was looking forward to it. Enoch was dreading it. I didn't bother trying to get pictures in the gym, they never turn out.
2. I was able to help in Kate's class today for their Polar Express party. I did the craft. Thank you, Pinterest! The kids had a fun time with it. We made crepe paper Christmas trees.
Crafts with 6-7 year olds are hard. Some rush through and are done in two minutes. Some are perfectionists and don't finish in the allotted time. Some are still working on their fine motor skills and crafts are a bit tricky. Some just don't care about crafts. Good thing I had a few books to fill the time!
The kids also played games, decorated cookies and read more Christmas stories. Guard was lucky enough to get to play too.
3. We have had a bit of sickness going through our family lately. Enoch has a nasty cough, Mom has a stomach bug, Dad has a bad cold. We've been keeping a close eye on fevers, knowing that it can be the first sign of the flu (since, apparently, our flu shots are doing nothing this year. Boo!). We've had the thermometer out a lot lately. Guard is fascinated with the thermometer and loves to have his temperature taken. He brought it to me and said, "Mom, my temperature hurts." I hope not!
