Luckily, they both really like How To Train Your Dragon. It was a fun theme to work with and I thought the party turned out well.
We started by personalizing our shields with markers. We explained to the kids that Viking shields are round and made from wood (or cardboard and duct tape!).
On to the training course. Greg made up a course that involved crawling through a cave, jumping over a log, climbing through another cave, flying through the air with your dragon, dodging bullets using your shield and finally pushing a boulder across the meadow. All with the help of your dragon and shield. I think the flying and dodging bullets were the favorite parts.
All the kids had a great time and went through the training over and over. We have some great dragon trainers.
I told the kids the make their scariest Viking face. Clearly, Kate is ferocious.
After training, we went upstairs and collected the spoils of our raiding. Presents! Enoch recieved a beekeeping class from Grandma and Grandpa, a ballista from Fords and a chemistry book from Kellys. He loved all of them.
Kate got a sewing class from Grandma and Grandpa, a paper flower book from Fords and shrinky dinks from the Kellys. What a lucky girl!
After presents was chow time - cupcakes with mini dragon for all!
It was a really fun birthday party! Happy early Birthday, Enoch & Kate! We love you!
