Storybook Island and downtown Rapid City

I'm trying very hard this vacation not to pack in too much on each day.  I've scheduled two things per day and we will see how that goes.  Good!  I hope.
This morning, we attended church in the Mount Rushmore ward.  It was a great place to be and we could feel that it is a good ward.  At the end of sacrament meeting, they announced that, in their stake, they had created a new ward by taking some from two wards.  You could feel the joy in the chapel.  They know with each ward they have, they are closer to a temple in their area.  We were so excited for them!
After church, we ate lunch in the motor home of the church parking lot, changed our clothes and headed into Rapid City.
Our first stop was Storybook Island.  I had found this little treasure online and was excited to take the kids.  We were not the only ones visiting on a Sunday afternoon!  The expansive park is dedicated to fairy tales.  We recognized most of them, but a few we weren't sure what story they represented!  The kids had such a great time exploring and playing.
After the park, we drove to downtown Rapid City.  They were having a car show and the kids liked seeing all the old cars.
Before our trip, I had the kids randomly pick a number.  Kate chose six, Enoch chose 21.  Little did they know what they were getting into!  In downtown Rapid City, they have a statue of every president of the United States.  Enoch and Kate were required to learn ten facts about their president, find their president in Rapid City and give a report.  It's all part of the fun!
We found Kate's first:  John Qunicy Adams.  Her favorite fact about Adams was he had a pet crocodile that he kept in the Potomac River!
After some searching, we found Enoch's 21st president:  Chester A. Arthur.  His favorite fact was Chester A. Arthur had over 100 pairs of pants!
It was fun to see most of the presidents.  We found a few other favorites along the way.
Enoch's favorite president is Abraham Lincoln (they share a birthday!).
And, whoever this is, because he has a chair we can sit in and a dog!!
It was a very fun day.  A lot of walking around Rapid City and we wore ourselves out, but it was worth it!
