From Tank to Dress

I really have not have much luck repurposing clothes.  I just don't feel like I'm very good at it.  I like a good pattern and a solid piece of fabric to cut into and then sew back together.  But....I decided to give it another try.
Kate has a tank top that she really wants to like.  It's yellow and has a dolphin on it.  But, it was a bit too short in length and a tank top.  We would make her wear a shirt under it and it was just too hot and bulky.  It was time to get rid of it.
Kate asked me if I could fix it so she could still wear it.
I brainstormed, pulled some discarded t-shirts out of the DI pile, started cutting, sewing and came up with this.  I cut off the bottom of the tank and used it to add flutter sleeves.  I added the skirt by sewing stripes from two old t-shirts.  It was so nice to have the hems already sewn!
I like how it turned out and Kate really liked how it turned out.
I was on a roll.  I remembered another tank Kate had.  This time blue, but with a dolphin too.  Luckily I had some orange dotted knit in my stash that matched well enough.
This time I couldn't cut enough off to make sleeves without cutting into the picture so I used the knit for sleeves.  The dress ended up being more of a drop-waist to keep the full picture.   I had to add an underskirt (an old white, stained t-shirt of Enoch's) because the orange knit was a bit thin.  Kate loves this one too.
Kate's favorite is the orange and blue.  I'm a bit partial to the yellow, white and blue.  Which one to you like?
PS - If you are going to toss some t-shirts, I'll take them!  Thanks!

Great job! It makes me feel like I should sew something. I just can't seem to get up the motivation.
