When Enoch picked out a Magic School Bus book about Electric Storms to read as our next activity book I was skeptical. I wasn't sure it would hold his interest. I wasn't sure what activities to do to reinforce what we learned. I was worried it just wouldn't work.
It was perfect. Enoch couldn't have picked a better book to read last week. I don't remember a week with so many electric storms in my life. There was one every day! We would read in the morning and then that afternoon we would sit on the porch and talk about what was happening during the storm. Enoch loved it. I'm not a big fan of thunder, but I enjoyed seeing Enoch so enthralled.
We learned about atoms, their electric charges and clouds. Enoch drew a picture to 'explain' it to me. He's such a smarty.
Since electric storms have a lot to do with the water cycle, we also talked about that. For our big activity we made terrariums. This kids loved this. Now, I just have to keep reminding Kate and Enoch to leave the lids on! Kate really wants to see her pink plant.
We had a great time learning about electric storms. Enoch really loves thunder and lighting now that he understands it. Kate and I are still thunder wimps - oh well. I wonder what we will read next?
