A boring and stupid date

I've been trying very hard to keep our tradition of parent/child dates going every month. I was a few weeks late for my date with Enoch (his month was June), but I still wanted to do something with him. He chose to eat chicken nuggets and go to the park. After his preschool camp today, we went out to eat at Arctic Circle. Enoch was completely confused. He kept asking if we were going to the top of the world. I had to explain over and over again that Arctic Circle was just the name of the restaurant. I thought he understood it until he asked if there would be penguins at the restaurant. I then had to explain that penguins live at the South Pole. Needless to say, by the time we got there we were both frustrated.
We split an order of chicken strips and fries and Enoch ate most of the chicken. He also drank quite a bit of fruit punch. After we finished lunch, I promised Enoch we could get a shake to take to the park. He wanted a brown topper instead. Against my better judgment, I got one for both of us.
They were huge and very messy. We barely made it to the park without a huge mess in the car. We sat at a picnic table for about 2 minutes before Enoch's cone was on the ground. He didn't seem too upset. I think he wanted to play and wasn't sure what to do with this huge cone. He didn't drop on purpose, but I think it solved his problem for him. I tried to eat mine, but by the end, I had ice cream dripping down my arms and chin. They were so messy.
On the way home, Enoch told me that our date was stupid and boring. I'll try to do better next time!

Lol. All dates can't be fun and go perfectly. I think it's funny that he said it was stupid and boring, I hope you didn't take it personal.

Wow! Enoch knows where the real Arctic Circle is! That's amazing for a four-year-old. Maybe he'll be a geographer. The date was a great idea! They won't all be great! Good job, Mom!

That is so awesome that he actually knew where the arctic circle is, he is already ahead of half of the high schoolers in the USA I am doing a paper for my english class on how people don't learn enough geography in the USA and I found out half of high schoolers in the states can't locate New York on a map so Enoch way to go, you must have gotten the weird male Randall geography gene.

How about next time you leave Enoch home and take ME on your "stupid and boring date". LOL! Enoch comes up with some good ones! I agree with Michelle---don't take it personal! Your kids are lucky to be able to do that with you...we are boring parents here :) We actually go on dates to get AWAY from our kids. hehehehehe.
