Enoch's eyes are red and swollen from crying. It took me 1/2 hour to calm him down. He is still on the verge of tears. The reason: his pet worm. He found a new friend today in the backyard. They played and played. They rolled in the dirt together and played in the grass. Enoch even sent his worm down the slide. Yippee! Dad finally told Enoch he needed to come in to get ready for bed and his pet worm needed to stay outside. Oh my! such tears. I have finally convinced him that his worm went home to his family and he is also getting ready for bed.
Enoch is my animal and creature lover. He has such a soft spot for them. I kept thinking we should get him a pet, but we are not ready for a dog or cat again. I'm thinking a fish. I keep putting it off because I know that we will probably kill it and I can't stand seeing my Enoch hurting. Any suggestions on hardy, very low maintance pets? If not, I'm seeing more worms in our future.

Such a cute little boy. I love his sensitivity towards animals. I still remember "Bob the Bug" from last summer. We chased him around the backyard and then ate raspberries with him on the trampoline. Maybe a turtle would be a good pet for him. They are very low maintenance.
I have a dog for sale! hahaha!
Is there such a thing as a low maintanace pet? I've never had one of those.
Enoch is awsome. He needs to come over and play. Jimmy loves him.
My sister had a beta fish that she kept hoping would die and wouldn't. We of course went against the pet store workers urging to get a beta and got a true goldfish. He lasted about 4 days. Get a beta.
I agree with whoever said the beta, we had one in Logan we also kind of tried to kill (sad I know but we were moving) and no such luck. I think they have an endless life span!!
Betas are fine until somebody decides they have to take them out of the tank so they can go down the slide.
Good luck, Tresa.
I have no good ideas. Jarom still hasn't forgiven me for forgetting to take care of his gerbil when he went to Timberline. I still have nightmares that I have forgotten to care for a pet. Grandpa Randall thinks he needs something that he can take out and hold and pet. Good luck!
I'm amazed the worm didn't shrivel up and die before all the fun was over. We can't ever seem to keep pet bugs alive for very long.
I would recommend a beta fish because they live a long time and the only maintenance is feeding once a day and cleaning the bowl. But there not exactly a "play with" pet, so I don't know how thrilled Enoch would be with that choice.
awwwww....cute! Hamsters can sometimes bite or nip.....what about a guinea pig??
I have the perfect pet for you! On best of Craig's List there is an entire family of Hamsters that have been stuffed (http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/rcs/1127138244.html) Just set them up in the cage and let Enoch enjoy! They're already dead, so you don't have to worry about them dying! Does it get any better than that?
