Gingerbread House

This has got to be one of the kid's favorite traditions. They love decorating gingerbread house. The candy is the big draw, but it is all fun.
After the fiasco last year of buying a different kind of house, we went back to the tried and true gingerbread houses at Costco. They are even better this year - they are already assembled! You just pull it out and start decorating. The kids loved not having to wait for the frosting to dry.
Since we have done this before and know our kids, Greg carefully divided the candy into three bowls so there would be no fighting, arguing or whining, "He got more than me. She's using all the gumdrops. I didn't get any of those." It worked out well and everyone seemed happy with what they got.
The kids used every piece of candy and the leftover frosting was squeezed into their mouths (yuck!). We usually ask the kids to wait a few days before their start picking at the house, but this year, we told them to start digging in as soon as they would like. They each know their favorite candy and those soon disappeared from the house. They are even eating the gingerbread. I think the only candy left is what no one likes. Good - eat it up and let's move on.

DEC 4 - We watched the First Presidency Christmas Devotional. It was wonderful. I loved the story that Presidency Uchtdorf told about setting the curtains on fire. It reminded me that even mischievous, curious little boys can turn out well.

I'm terrible....I have no patience for frosting-gluing the houses together -- I use hot glue! :) I have baked and made the houses my self in the past, but I got the kits form IKEA this year. They are cute, and only $3.99.
