One Tree and Five Stockings

We have had our tree for a few days now and finally got around to decorating it. We don't have a fancy tree, but it turns out nice every year. The kids each have trees in their own rooms that they put their ornaments on, so our family is somewhat coordinated, but still looks like it was trimmed by kids. I never redecorate the tree after the kids - I think it adds Christmas charm to see all the jingle bells in one spot or have the garland looking loopy (or have half the lights out because a certain six-year-old can't help himself from messing with them!) .
We had a wonderful time with our tree. We finally turned on the Christmas carols (I am a FIRM believer in waiting until after Thanksgiving to listen to Christmas music). The kids had a great time choosing each place for each ornament. Our tree is a bit bottom-heavy, but like I said, it adds to the charm.
Greg always gets the honor of placing the star at the top of the tree. The kids think it's because he is the dad, but really, it's because I make him put the lights on the tree and take them off, so he should get some benefit from that!
It is beautiful! And do you see that little girl jumping off the couch in front of the tree? Should I be surprised that she has a broken arm? Probably not.
We also hung our stocking in front of the fireplace. Luckily we didn't have any questions this year about how Santa gets through our chimney. Maybe the kids have figured it out, or they just don't care? Who knows?
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at our home!
