Gavin attended the State Science Fair at BYU today. He was so-so excited to go. He was excited to get out of school, but not so much about the judges interviews.
He set up his project on Monday afternoon in the Harmon Conference Center (first trip to BYU for Mom). The next day, he was dropped off at 9am (second trip to BYU for Mom). He got into the room and the first judge was waiting for him. I wish he would have had more time to settle in, but he sounded great as I was herding Enoch and Kate out of the room.
Gavin was able to watch the BYU Devotional after his judges interviews (he had four interviews). Jim Lovell, Apollo 13 commanding astronaut spoke and Gavin really enjoyed it. They had pizza for lunch and then he hung out with his friend, Trey.
At three, they had the awards ceremony (third trip to BYU for Mom). Gavin was a bit disappointed that he didn't win anything, but when you are competing against 900 kids, your odds go down. He had a great time and we are so proud of Gavin! What a great kid!

That's impressive! So, when I need to know where some place at BYU is, I know who to call for directions. :p
Good job Gavin!! I'm so proud of my smart nephew.
What a great experience! (Even if it did mean a lot of driving!) Nine hundred kids is a lot to compete with! I'm so impressed (and jealous) that he got to hear Jim Lovell speak. I will have to download that talk and listen to it on my iPod. Congratulations, Gavin! We're so proud of you and your board looks fabulous! Learning to speak to adults about what you've learned is a very valuable "mission skill." We love you!
