Round-Up Fun

Our family loves Lehi Round-Up week. It has been a great tradition in our family since Greg and I have been married. We especially love the parade and this year Gavin and I were able to walk with our ward float. The parade theme was Tall Tales and Traditions, and our ward float was based on the movie, Footloose, which was partially filmed in Lehi. The float was very cute and colorful, but the fun part was the Footloose theme song that blasted from the float during the entire parade route. It was great fun to see people start to rock out in their lawn chairs as our float cruised past. I walked behind the float for crowd control and to help pull the water wagon and Gavin pulled the float, but we also had kids out front dancing and grooving to the music. Our float won the "Most Unique Award". I'm not sure the judges knew what to do with us.
On Saturday, our family (excpet Gavin who was again pulling the float), watched the parade go down 100 East. It was miserably hot, but we were glad for our huge blue umbrella to keep the sun off (especially Kate). The Fowlers and the Randalls were there and we had a great time. Our family also tried (tried being the key word) to particiapte in the Lehi History Quest again this year. Last year we took third place and won a year pass to the Legacy Center. This year we fell apart after only the third clue. The problem being Greg was very busy at work and couldn't take time off and I was only willing to drag the kids around so much. Poor Kate, I feel like she has grown up in her car seat! We still had fun doing the part that we could figure out. It is a great week and perhaps some year we will acutally attend the rodeo!

Sad we missed the rest of the parade, I don't think Kyle was though. Carson was getting freaked out by the animals too. But I love parades. Thanks for sharing the umbrella!

Looks like you had a great time with the kids!!

I love round-up but we've never been to the rodeo either. Go figure! I guess the parade is just too fun by itself!
