I've posted before about how I have had a hard time finding pants that fit Enoch. Really - this kid is just plain skinny.
This morning I was in the bathroom doing Kate's hair and I heard Enoch yell from his room, "There's something wrong with my pants." I thought he's put a hole in the knees of yet another pair of jeans. He walked into the bathroom and I burst out laughing. He was wearing Kate's jeans! And they were buttoned and zipped up!
What am I going to do with this kid. He's my best eater. He actually eats quite a bit for a six year old. But, he is very, very, very active and has an extremely high metabolism. I'm sure he is burning off all his calories by lifting his fork to his mouth (like his dad). Chances are, he will always be skinny and his pants will never fit quite right (like his dad).

Scattered Thoughts
1. A few days ago at JoAnn's I was constantly telling Enoch to stay by me (I hate taking him to that store!) After a few minutes of me yelling his name every two seconds a woman approached me and asked, "Is your son's name Enoch?" I answered yes. She told me she also had a son named Enoch. We laughed and said almost at the same time, "I think you're the only other one I know of."
2. We are so sad that BYU is out of the NCAA basketball tournament, but we can't be sad about their terrific season. It was so great to see BYU do so well and fight back from some major adversity. We loved all the national attention the team and Jimmer got. The hardest part of the loss to Florida was knowing that that was the last time we would see Jimmer in a Cougar uniform. Go Cougars!
3. Greg and I have been busy building furniture for our bedroom remodel. We have completely changed our room. We are in the process of making a storage desk. We have finished our bed already and painted the walls. It has been a lot of fun working together on this project. Greg is such a perfectionist that the paint and furniture look great!
4. I took a bit of a break from sewing after Christmas and found that I really missed it. I've made a list of what clothes Enoch and Kate need for the summer and which ones I'm willing to sew. Kate needed a dressier white shirt. I used and Oliver + S pattern (so amazingly incredible, I loved it) to make this shirt. I probably should have made it a size bigger, but oh well. The shirt has pin tucks, buttonholes and a collar. It is quite detailed and definitely the most difficult thing I've sewed for Kate. I'm really happy with how it turned out.
5. Our family cleaned the church this morning. Enoch and Kate love cleaning the church. Gavin's goal is to be in and out in 30 minutes (it usually take more like 90). Enoch and Kate head straight for the janitor's closet and pull down the fuzzy dusters. They get right to work on dusting lamps, tables and pictures. I had Enoch help dust in the chapel where I was vacuuming. I had finished vacuuming all the side pews when I realized Enoch had used the extendable rod on the duster and was cleaning out all the can lighting fixtures on the sides of the chapel. I suppose they really needed it because I had to revacuum all the benches because they were covered in dust. When we are all done cleaning we let the kids blow up a latex glove and take it home. Such fun!

The Mother & Son Magic Show
Enoch and I were so excited to go to the Mother and Son Magic Show at his school. Enoch has never seen a live magician, so he wasn't too sure what to expect. It was, well, magical!
It was so fun to see Enoch's reactions. He would be amazed, astonished, entertained, confused and would burst into laughter every two seconds. Enoch is such a happy boy and the magic show completely brought out his inner joy.
His favorite trick was when the magician turned a balloon into a live bunny. Enoch absolutely loved it! He kept saying, "I can't believe it! I can't believe it! How did he do it? Can I have a bunny so I can try it?" Uh...no.
It was so much fun to spent the evening with Enoch. He is such a joy to be around. We laughed, talked, snuggled and had a great time. What an incredible boy! The night was perfect. (The next morning when I woke up with bruises all over my thighs from Enoch's bony behind sitting on my lap all night wasn't perfect.)

The Family That Went Camping
Kindergartners are asked to tell a story in front of their class that has a beginning, middle and end and use visual aids. Enoch's teacher suggested flannel board stories from the library, fairy tales, etc. Enoch, of course, wanted to make up his own story and pictures.
He came up with a great story about a family going camping. Then, using his toys and camera, he took pictures to tell his story.
The Family That Went Camping.
Once upon a time there was a family who went camping. They packed up their motor home.
They had a long drive so they got on the highway. They didn't see the mud pit.
The motor home got stuck in a giant mud pit. They couldn't get out. The mom said, "Oh no!"
A big, strong truck was driving the other way. He had just come back from camping.
The blue truck saw the stuck motor home and stopped to help. The mom said, "Yahoo, we are saved!"
The truck hooked up his rope to the motor home. He pulled and pulled until the motor home was freed from the mud pit.
The family was so happy to be out of the mud pit.
The family got to the campground just in time for lunch. They set up their table and ate. They had a fun camping trip. The End.
(Enoch then takes a bow.)

Happy St. Patrick's Day
Enoch keeps asking where our leprechaun decorations are. I keep telling him we don't have any. He doesn't like this answer. Now would be a good time to tell you I spent some quality time with my children making homemade St. Patrick's decorations, planning green food for all our meals and having the leprechaun visit last night and leave little goodies for my kids. But, since I did none of those things, I won't. However, I did make sure all the kids were wearing green today. Gavin remembered on his own; although he is too cool to wear green obviously, so he hid it under his sweatshirt. Enoch has been counting down the days for weeks, so I wasn't worried about him wearing green on the right day. After realizing a few days ago that Kate does not own one green item of clothing, I whipped up a cute little green dress. The sewing and fit are horrible, so don't look too closely, but for one day it will do.
Kate was pretty upset when she learned she had to wear green today. "Me no like green! I want to wear pink!" Gessh, if we aren't wearing pink we are throwing a fit. She was a bit more happy when she learned she was getting a new dress. Kate decided that tomorrow whoever isn't wearing pink will get pinched. We'll call it Kate Day. Her brothers didn't like that idea.

A Great Pi(e) Day
Today the kids were out of school, so we did some fun things. Our pass to Thanksgiving Point expired a bit ago, so we hadn't been there in a while. We got a new pass today and had a great time at the Dinosaur Museum and Farm.
Enoch and Kate love the Dinosaur Museum. Kate was a bit nervous walking in and seeing all the bones, but she quickly warmed up and was running around trying to keep up with Enoch (Gavin elected to 'hang out' with friends rather than go to Thanksgiving Point). They both really enjoyed the sand table and digging in the Quarry. It was a lot of fun.
It was lunchtime after the museum, so we headed to the Deli for lunch. Enoch and Kate loved their dino nuggets and fries and my Baja chicken salad was the best lunch I've had in a long time!
Even though it was overcast, we visited the Farm. We only made it on pony rides, a buggy ride and to see the ducks before it started to rain. The kids still had a lot of fun, especially on the buggy ride.
Enoch kept saying how much fun this day was - over and over and over. It was a very fun day.
Since it was also pi day, I came home and baked a chocolate mousse pie. It turned out great and the kids and Greg all really liked it. We now have two people in our family who understand the concept of pi (Greg and Gavin), but the rest of us are still happy to celebrate it's day too!

Bigfoot
In my last post, I compared Enoch to a flower and now I'm calling Gavin Bigfoot. What kind of mother am !? But, if the shoe fits...
Gavin got new shoes today - size 10.5, extra wide! I keep waiting for his feet to stop growing, but no signs of that yet. Oh well. His heels are still hurting him. He has inflamed growth plates in his heels. I'm not sure what that means, but most likely, more growing.
On a side note, Gavin has completed the requirements to become a volunteer at the Christa McAufille Space Center. He is very excited. He loves the Space Center and now he can go whenever he wants (and earn points toward free missions!).

Anxiously Awaiting Spring
I have a love/hate relationship with March and April in Utah. I love the warmer weather, longer days and hints of spring. I also realize that winter isn't over yet and regardless of how warm and sunny it is, snow is imminent.
The kids are dying to be outside - Enoch especially. He is not his usual happy self this time of year. Winter really takes it out of him. He really does live to be outside in the sunshine. I hate to compare him to a flower, but he literally follows the sun like a flower and closes up when there is no sunshine.
So, that means that we enjoy the warm, sunny days even more! We have spent as much time outside as we can. Enoch and Kate have both enjoyed riding their bikes and scooters. Kate is now tall enough to reach the pedals on her bike and Enoch is a whiz at bike-riding (almost too much so - please watch for zooming Enochs in the road!).
Yes, Kate is wearing a Halloween angel costume and pink Crocs while riding her scooter. Whatever.
I know snow will come again, but days like this help you get through!

Kate and Cosmo
I love this picture! This is a definite wedding video shot.
Kate, me, Grandma Randall, Aunt Michelle and Brynnley went to the BYU gymnastic meet tonight. Kate is taking gymnastics and absolutely loves it. She is very serious about it, but also has a lot of fun. I've been wanting to take her to a meet all season and decided if we were going to do it, we'd better hurry. Uncle Jarom was so nice and gathered All-Sports passes for all of us so we were able to get in free. The meet was at the Smith Fieldhouse.
We had so much fun. Kate really liked watching the girls on the bars and beam. We sat on the second level right above where the vault was so we could see the girls in the air as they were flipping off the vault. Kate loved that. She would sit and watch so intently during the routine and then clap when it was over. What a cutie!
Her favorite part of the night was when she meet Cosmo. He was walking around the gym and she would follow him with her eyes. When he came over to our section I told her we would get a picture with him. I was expecting her to be a bit nervous, but she walked right up to him and sat on his lap. Kate is quiet, but she really isn't very timid. She was so excited to tell her brothers.
We had such a fun night. Brynnley rode down with us because her mom stayed home with her sick baby brother. All the way down and then back home there was nothing but chattering and giggling from the back seat. Kate and Brynn had so much fun together. It was a great night. I think we've found a new girls night out tradition.
